Digswell Lodge Redevelopment
One of our current projects is the re-development of Digswell Lodge on Digswell Rise in Welwyn Garden City, working with our developer client Beare Homes.
The Project itself consists of 6 semi detached and 4 terraced new build houses and the alteration of the Lodge itself into 3 maisonettes and penthouse
The project has been very interesting and engaging, working on a project incorporating many different elements of construction process such as the heavy demolition of the lodge extension, a basement construction for the new terraced houses, various foundation types including piling, ground beams and basement, Civil engineering through service main diversions on site and also the refurbishment of the heritage listed lodge building .
We have worked in conjunction with the clients design team (architect, surveyor and engineer) managing every aspect of the construction phase from demolition through to the full completion of each unit and landscaping. We also worked with and adhered to the standards of the LABC, Building Control and Planning.
The site was the former Mater Dei school situated off Parkway. The project involved demolishing a prefabricated extension and to restore the old class room wing back to it's original Georgian style renovating the arched window brickwork and installing new made to measure windows. Our clients the Focolare Movement, also included in the project the refurbishment of the residential area of the building. We renovated 20 bedrooms to include en-suite bathrooms and gave the building a clean modern internal environment. Various meeting rooms, corridors and kitchen areas were also refurbished involving extensive drylining, plastering, electrical, plumbing and heating work (including a new boiler room. We returned in the spring of 2009 to commence the 2nd phase of the building refurbishment.
